Creative Chemistry 101 Day Five

I have up to day 5 on my puter so thought I would jot down another quick post before I upload and sort days 6-10 lol. If my blogging is anything to go by at the moment (very disorganised) imagine my craft space is all I can say! Haha :)

I found no matter how much colour I put down I needed to spray my cs first. Might need to rewatch and see what I am doing wrongs haha . . .

Below is first gen but as you can see I am moping every last lil juicy scrap off my mat. The lighter ones of these are 2nd generation. The colours are just so vibrant!

Premisted.

No water.

Splatter attack!

I had a very small piece of what I assume to be craft paper, as I haven't bought any yet to play with and made my own resist paper . . . I am totally in love with it.  Wish I had some more of the paper. The pics  really don't do justice to the real thing.

The look is somewhere in between these two I think lol

If your playing along with Tim I hope you are having fun and learning loads too :)

Creative Chemistry 101 Day Four

Hey I am a bit slack posting I know. I am finally all up to date but I have so much going on am finding it hard to find blogging time. Not to mention in the last 3 days my printer has had snotty and died, I locked myself and my man out (good thing good friends have a set of keys!) lol, and the piece de resistance is my phone "going missing" while I was aiding at my youngests school . . . Yay fun week don't ya think? Anyhow I am going to post my day 4 pics :)

We had some bleed problems :( we are missing one that I will add later. Think it is my watercolour paper. Maybe I need a more expensive brand one or something . . . I don't know.

Just wanted to mention I made my mists out of color wash rather than reinkers... I am a bit of a hoarder and colour wash goes further ;) lol

and some misting problems lol Below is my first attempt, what a mess. The other two look great though :)

Below is my Mans 2nd and first attempts. Doesn't his second attempt, the clock, look great? :)

even though we had problems we did get there in the end!

and his third attempt with the whole clock, he loves this mask lol. We also blotted with paper towel to give a smooth effect :)

I really love how the one below turned out. Not 100% fussed on the background, but it looks loads better with the marker stamped butterflies :)

Thanks For stopping bye.

12 Tags of 2012... March and... More Orange?

Hi all, slipping into my class blogs is my march tag/card. I figured I best get it done lol. Busy busy month so far and it's only going to get worse haha. I decided on flowers this month as I always do butterfly's! lol

I took my tattered florals die and punched 3 of the second smallest flower out of grungeboard. I should have used grungepaper as the board is not very malleable. . . Next Time! I cut itty bitty bits of three colourful papers (making sure to get the bright image in mmy bits) that to be honest I didn't really like. . . and used them for my mosaics. I used Hampton Art embossing powders from the brights in yellow, purple and red as my mosaic grout then covered the itty papers with glossy.

From the same tattered florals die I cut the smallest flower with a cut up soft drink can. I inked these with various alcohol inks then shaped into a more 3d shape. I glued them in the middle with glossy accents. I added some pearls I coloured with the same colours of inks to the centres of the flowers.

I used my ecraft to cut leaves from the fundamentals 1 sd card using old book pages. I inked the leaves with various colours of distress stain and then crumpled them into a little ball like I did for the 12 cards of christmas. I then uncrumpled and dried them and went back with my blending tool and darker colours of distress ink.

The yellow flower is adhered with glossy, the purple with 1 foam square and the red flower with 2 stacked foam squares. The background was done using a tim holtz sizzix embossing folder, the movers and shapers ornamental die and ripe persimmon distress ink and then all placed onto a creamy yellow card base edged with mustard seed distress ink.
Thanks for stopping by.

PS The empty spaces top and bottom have been left so I can add a sentiment as required depending upon the occasion :)

Creative Chemistry 101 Day Three

Loving these classes, have learnt a few new things, not so much the techniques except the archival resist (got to get me some of them lol), I managed to do a stazon version. Having loads of trouble with the agate technique. Lol I think that's a hard one to master really. But it's all fun and everything is usable even if not for the intended purpose.

For eg from one of the techniques yesterday I used my leftover ink to make three generations of backgrounds and than the last few drops I used the same sheet of cs to pick the colour up from all my tries. The ones that are not usuable as backgrounds I will chop up and use as other things like butterflies or flowers.

Anyways here are our day three pics.

My second go at technique 3

My Mans go at it. So Pretty.

My first go. for some reason I didn't really like it so tried again lol.

Technique 2. We used Stazon as I don't have any archival yet. This was go one. Forgot to dry the stazon first . . . oops

Go two, This ones my bf's. He loves the lion... Rawr!!!

My attempt two.

Ok I suck at this lol. I think i added too much blending solution to both mine and the bf's lol... This is his.

My first attempt.

My second attempt. Like it much better. I used far less blending solution this time. I think it is a matter of playing around til you get the right amounts.

Day three was a challenge for me lol. Did several do overs to make myself happy lol. Hope you had better results! Hugs

Washi Tape Card and Vintage Ladies

Hi

Quick stop by to show you a couple more cards I have made recently.

The first has a Washi tape boarder. I recently bought a 10 pack of Washi tape from Sawyer's Place and wanted to make a card with it. I chose the plain dark blue and edged a white card base with it and built my card up from there.

The circle stamp is from kaisercraft Madame Boutique as is the background vine stamp. I grabbed the thinking of you from a random stamp set. Can't remember which off the top of my head and cut it with a lifestyle crafts oval die. I used tumbled glass and broken china distress inks. The flower is an I am roses flower edged with distress stain and spritzed with home made glimmer mist.

This next card is for my mum for her birthday. I just love the vinatgey feel of this card. I started with the pp from the Prima Romantique 6x6 pad and worked from there.

The stamp is from a huge See Dee's Box Set that was bought a good while ago. It almost perfectly matches the pp right down to the hat. I coloured the stamp with Faber-Castell Big Brush Markers. After I stamped her I used my finger to push the colour around. I added some burgundy ribbon and stamped the sentiment with the same marker as my ladies dress. I cut the sentiment with a Lifestyle Crafts Labels die and adhered it with foam tape for dimension. I then coloured an I Am Roses rose with the Big Brush Marker and spritzed with home made glimmer mist (need to work quickly before the marker dries).

Hope you like my cards :) I totally love my Prima Lady card!

Creative Chemistry 101 Day Two

I didn't really do anything to post on day one as it was mostly just checking out your stash and seeing what you have to use. Day two however is a whole nother matter lol. I even got my boyfriend trying a few techniques :) Woohoo Ty T!m!!! :)

So I will show pics from each of us on our crafty endeavors. Just bunch shots at this stage I will add some single shots over the weekend as I played some more and made some I love love love :)

These are my Mans :)

These are mine. I do have the say I hated my first blend and spritz one til I stamped it. Then I loved it! :)

We used some cheap manila folders that I cut with the ornamental movers and shapers die. I am not fussed on these as they are quite rough and don't give the same results as smoother paper. I did some more on a smooth white cs and like them a whole lore more. Will grab some pics over the weekend and upload them. It has been go go go this week lol.

Some Manly Cards

Hi all,

I recently bought this unmounted stamp from the US, I am totally in love with it! It's from Another Stamp company. I just used some double sided tape on the back to adhere it to my block and it stamps wonderfully.
So I decided to pair it with some already made alcohol ink backgrounds and see what I could come up with.

The first is a generic card that can be used for a birthday or fathers day or any even really. I swiped my distress ink on the card base around the edges, I then mounted my stamped image onto my pre-prepared alcohol ink background. My stamp image was stamped onto a wet distress stain background to give it a more washed out distressed feel. I stamped and fussy cut the pawn from a vintage set of stamps from recollections.

The next card I stamped with a Fiskars Harlequin Background stamp. I spritzed my image with water and blotted quickly a couple of times to fade the image even more. I cut a cog with my cuttlebug and the Tim Holtz Gears Movers and Shapers and coloured it with distress stain.

I have another card I am working on I just need to find a travel sentiment for the top. I will post it when it's done. Hope you like my man cards :) Thanks for stopping by.

Spellbinders Butterfly Cards

I have a pile of cs offcuts my sister got me from a recycle shop. They are nice and thick and semi gloss on one side. I love using them with my Spellbinders and Lifestyle Crafts dies. They make great shaped cards as the cs is thick enough it will emboss the edges as it runs through as well.

Recently I was at my friends house and wanted to show her a couple of techniques to make cards with the thin dies. I showed her two ways. My first card was made by cutting two of the one shape and then about 2cm from the top of the back one I scored a line. In this small 2cm section is the only place you add adhesive and then you stick the top piece over that and line up your shapes. This allows your card to flip open.

The card was made with the Fiskars It's Your Day rubber cling stamp set. I used the flower stamps and Barn Door distress ink and stamped off on a scrap before stamping on my card. I then stamped my images and fussy cut them. The sentiment is stamped onto a lifestyle crafts labels die. The images were adhered with foam tape for dimension.

For the next card I pre-folded the cardstock and carefully laid the die on cs making sure the folded section was just inside the top of the wings. I have also made a card with this die as a side opening card instead of a top opening card. You can just see in the pic that the top of the wings are flat from the folds.

I stamped the back of the card in milled lavender distress stain with a recollections butterfly stamp. I then took the same stamp and stamped again on white cs and fussy cut around it. I used the medium spellbinders butterfly to cut a piece of Prima pp. The sentiment is from Fiskars Butterfly Magic. The rose is from I Am Roses and inked with milled lavender distress stain and then sprayed with homemade shimmer mist.

I really love shaped cards. I have recently started seeing what images I can use with my ecraft to make them. My last blog was a doily card I made with the ecraft :)

Doily Card With My Ecraft

Hi all Just wanted to share a card I made with my ecraft....

I found a circle doily type svg on a free blog. In SCAL 3 I took the svg and copied it and flipped it and laid it slightly over the first copy and then merged or did a union... or both? Sorry lol exhausted at the moment or I would try it again lol. Anyway by doing this I got my card base.

I cut a white circle to fit my card top and another for inside. I ran the top circle through my cuttlebug with a sizzix texturz plate. I used a lifestyle crafts die to layer the sentiment on white and then black cs. The flowers are I am Roses, I used black soot distress stain to colour them and then used home made shimmer spray to make the colour bleed down.

The butterfly is made using ten movers and shapers Tim Holtz Butterfly's and one piece of thin chip. I sprayed each of the butterfly's with shimmer spray and then adhered one to the base. The rest I ran through the cuttlebug in an embossing folder. I used a thin layer of matte accents on the body of each butterfly to glue the layers together. I added the second circle on the inside for writing on :)

Love the way this card turned out!

Embossing Folders and Markers!

Hello crafters of the world :) lol

Today I want to share a video with you on making embossed and coloured backgrounds using markers. As I said in my last post, I don't have matching Tim Holtz stamps and folders and as they run into high numbers to buy I don't see me buying any anytime soon. I decided to try and find a way to get a similar look without owning the stamps.

I have texturz from sizzix.

Cuttlebug folders.

And finally Texture Fades.

Any embossing folder or plate that you can use in a sizzix or cuttlebug or any other machine will work for this technique as well. Darice, spellbinders etc.

The next photo shows a mix of markers I have tried. Still waiting for my distress markers. Can't wait to try them and to co-ordinate them with the distress stains!

I am still learning as i go with this. I just couldn't find any info on the web about this and thought I would share. I hope this helps some more people out!
