Watercolor For Cardmakers Intermediate Day 3 - Negative Painting Take 2

I tried this technique again using Semco paper, the first layer of colour faded out a lot, very muted colours. I did a quick test on the back and they didn't fade quite as much but still were not very vibrant. I also used a finer brush this time for a little more detail!

I used Windsor & Newton Cotman Watercolours, Plaid One Stroke Brushes and Semco brushes with a Fiskars Creepy Crawly stamp (that's not a creepy crawly lol).

Watercolor For Cardmakers Intermediate Day Three - Negative Painting

I am really struggling with this technique as you will see in a minute lol . . . Firstly I don't have many leaf stamps and my brain wasn't working on alternatives like it has for other days, secondly the paper wasn't staying wet as fast as I misted it the water soaked in pretty much lol. Darn Aussie heat! And of course am still using the plaid one stroke which don't hold a point well. Anyway here it is...

Dried Marigold, Texture Paste and Spellbinders

Hi everybody, sorry I've been away for so long, but I've had a busy month! Been on holidays, my daughter graduated high school among other things lol. So we have a new challenge starting at Eclectic Ellapu and for the Purple team the the theme is to use Texture Paste. I was a bit challenged by this card, nothing seemed to balance out but I got there in the end.

To start this card I used a Heidi Swapp mini stencil, with Liquitex texture paste. Over this I used dried marigold distress ink. I also used distress ink around my card base. I then used my ebosser to cut Spellbinders dies, the top butterfly layer is vellum. I used more dried marigold on these as well as to stamp the Fiskars sentiment. I added some ribbon and bead string as well as bling from Kaisercraft to finish.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Stamped Die Cuts Part 2

So the other day when I was out and about I made another stamped die cut card from day 3 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 at Online Card Classes. I wanted to make a male version so I switched up the colours and the die cuts I used. I used Distress Inks in Fired Brick, Mowed Lawn, Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo. I used stamps from Fiskars and Mpress as well as dies from Lifestyle Crafts and spellbinders. I also used a mini stencil from Heidi Swapp.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Kissing (I cheated)

I admit I cheated lol, no kissing on my card, that's because I don't really have many graphic stamps and the ones I had were already patterned :). I did like the effect though. Again I have used the Fiskars Shapes N' Such set with Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Tumbled Glass, Milled Lavender, Spiced Marmalade and Spun Sugar, the sentiment is from TPC Studio, stamped in Archival ink.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Random Patterns Part 2

Hiya so I wasn't super happy with the last card so I tried again, this time with the spotty circle from the Fiskars Shapes N' Such set. I also used Prima Hybrid inks for the first time and loved them! I used Vanilla, Rose Petal, Sky and Lilac as well as Archival Black ink to stamp my sentiment from Cloud 9. Stretch Your Stamps 2 Random Patterns

I have to say this card for Stretch Your Stamps 2 at Online Card Classes posed a bit of a problem as I don't really have many graphic stamps but I found Fiskars Shapes n, Such in my stash and it had two patterned squares of differing sizes. I also used Distress Inks in Ripe Persimmon, Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass and Peackock Feathers as well as Archival Black to stamp the sentiment from Kaisercraft. I wasn't wholly happy with this one so stay tuned fo Take two!

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Combo Card

Hiya, for this card from Stretch Your Stamps 2 at Online Card Classes I used a combination of Techniques from two differtent cards. I used From the creator as well as a little paper piecing.

For this card I used stamps from Fiskars (alphabet), TPC Studio (elephant), Hero Arts (greeting) and See Dee's (balloons) with Archival ink and Dylusions as well as Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, Squeezed Lemonade and Pumice Stone. Really need practice doing these, guess I am using too much water, but it's kind of sweet :)

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Over The Edge

So I am at the mid point, Day 6 of Stretch Yours Stamps 2 at Online Card Classes. I tried using this Mpress stamp for another technique but there wasn't enough open space for colouring. It looks great for this technique though :) I used Hero Arts white embossing powder, Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves, Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon, Mustard Seed and a brown which I cannot remember lol. I need to start taking notes as I create! I died some white grosgrain with the distress inks to match and used staples to attach to the tag. The background is stamped with the same colours of ink stamped off so its barely there, using a Cherry Blossom stamp from Fiskars.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Word Art Stenciling

This is my second technique for day 3 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 at Online Card Classes and I have to say in trying to keep up with class I am a little bit too lazy to to attempt the other two right now, maybe at the end when I have more time lol. For this card I used a Heidi Swapp butterfly stencil with distress inks and Primas Notary stamp along with Versamark and Zing Aqua embossing Powder on a Fiskars Laughter Quote stamp for a pretty cool one layer card.

I couldn't waste this lovely piece I had left over from Stretch You Stamps 2 over at Online Card Classes so I decided to turn it into a card too. I added some Prima flowers and a bling brad to give the card a lift. The cardstock I chose for the card base fits right in between the orange and yellow mixing :)

Hi, well I am really into Online Card Classes right now and am currently doing Stretch Your Stamps 2. This is my first card for day 1. Yeah I'm a bit slack on the  posting front but get ready for a tonne of posts! lol.

I used Hero Arts Seafoam embossing powder, Windsor & Newton Cotman watercolours, watercolour paper, the background stamp and the letters for "to you" are from Fiskars stamp sets and the die was a freebie from a magazine :) Free stuff is good!

Belles and Whistles Pen Friend With KaiserCrafts Candy Lane

First off, sorry for the not so good pic, think my lens was a bit smudgy :( all the pics I have for this card are like it, siiiigh . . . Any how this card was for a young lady I knows birthday. I let her pick the stamp and the main colour theme.  The stamp is from Belles and Whistles and is called Pen Friend. I started by stamping the image onto Neenah Solar White cs as well as onto my marker pad so I could get an idea of colours that would work together.

And the I got to colouring with a bunch of Promarkers and Copics. As you can tell my lil friend loves hot pink, so does my daughter lol. I find it a challenge to work with so thank goodness for colour co-ordinated paper pads lol. I used the marker pad to help find a suitable blending family as you can see.

Lucky I did as the marker I used for the ribbon was extra juicy and a lil leaky lol. If I had used it right on my image I would have ruined it! I solved the problem by putting the fine tip on the promarker and using a very light stroke over the ribbons. I was very lucky when I took the tip off as ink went everywhere but on the image! lol

I went around the whole image with nice soft pink copics for a nice halo effect. Just so you can see how many colour I generally use on an image . . . Here ya go lol! Actually this bunch on the small side.

Next up I grabbed  bunch of spellbinders dies and began cutting my layers with my Ebosser. I used Labels Four to cut my image, I used a Timeless Rectangles die on the pink layer and a Floral Ovals die on the teapot layer.

I used foam tape behind my image and the pink layer for dimension as you can see from the shadows in the pic.

I then took a Fiskars stamp and two Tim Holtz Tattered Banners from Sizzix and stamped the sentiment. To do this I carefully inked up the one line at a time so I could put one on each banner. I used a baby wipe very carefully to remove any excess if I got it on the line I wasn't using at the time.

I added foam tape under the banner so it was in line with my 2nd raised layer, cut another co-ordinating piece of pp for my background and stuck it all to my card base :)

 Apologies again for the out of focus pics, hopefully I don't have any more like that! Anyhow time for me to get some shut eye so . . .

Fiskars Asian Inspired Lantern Cards

These cards were made using the Chinese lantern from the Fiskars Asian Inspired stamp set. I stamped the lantern onto watercolour paper with Jet Black Stazon and then water coloured them with distress markers. I fussy cut around each lantern.

I then grabbed some DCWV white core cs in a nice yellow colour trimmed to card size and ran it through my bug with the Cuttlebug Lanterns embossing folder. I then used my Tim Holtz sanding block to sand the raised images and show the white core of the cs. I adhered the lanterns with foam squares and they were finished . . .

Well they should have been finished hahaha. One card I stuck the embossed base on the card upside down so I had to fix that. That's bad enough, however the next card I not only stuck the base upside down, I stuck the lanterns on the base upside down as well . . . I took my heat tool and heated everything up so the tape would release easier and fixed it all up lol . . .

Clementine Pattern Play Day 1

Well I guess everyone knows by now how much I like to combine my challenges. This card rolls a few into one and includes the Pattern Play class I am doing at Online Card Classes. I started with this sketch from Freshly Made . . .

I started by picking my papers, I did this with two thoughts in mind, two green challenges, a monochromatic challenge and a friendship card all rolled into one. Anyway the papers I chose are from the Cosmo Cricket Clementine stack.

 I then used the Tim Holtz Butterflies On The Edge die on the pp with the leaf shapes. Then I trimmed it down to fit across the top of the card and taped it to the back of the darker green on green circle pp. I then used a strip of white cs as a colour break.

Next I cut the lightest paper with another movers and shapers die, I used the larger of the two tickets. I stamped inside the ticket with Mowed Lawn Distress ink with a Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz sentiment with my new fiskars stamp press. Not sure what set as I grabbed a bunch of random stamps to craft at a friends lol. To make the words stand out a little more I embossed them with Ranger Superfine clear embossing powder.

I then grabbed a Hero Arts stamp that to stamp on the darker green pp. I used Pine Needles distress ink and embossed with the superfine again. I then taped the butterfly/darker paper onto my white card base. To add the ticket I used foam tape foe some dimension.

 

I thought it looked a little plain. So I decided to bling it up with some bling from the bottom of the stamp set. Everything is better with a lil bling!

If I was remaking this card I might have tried swapping the lighter herringbone  pp with the darker green circles. But at least I followed the rules for choosing paper :)

I made these cards using the Fiskars Creepy Crawlies stamp set and my Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens paired up with papers from The Best of K & Co Too. For the first card I stamped the three images in archival then coloured with the markers. I trimmed them so that the top and bottom images were the same size and the middle image though smaller had the same width. I used distress inks around the edges in colours that co-ordinated with the markers ( used some scrap paper as a tester so I didn't ruin my images by using colours hat wouldn't work). I stamped some webs around the edges of my chosen background paper (TBH I didn't like this paper and was challenging myself to make something nice with it)  and added it to a white cs base. I mounted the stamped images on foam tape to make them pop a little more.

For this card I coloured the frog same as before and stamped a sentiment. I distress inked both first with Shabby Shutters and then Pine Needles. I made both squares the same size and then cut some slightly larger squares from white cs. The Frog has double sided tape on both layers where as the sentiment only has it between the sentiment and white cs. The background paper has had its edges distress inked with Pine Needles

Even though I started with a paper I didn't like I quite like how the cards turned out. I made a third card almost the same as the first one and the young boy thought it was great :) Boys and bugs what can I say lol . . .

Aged Mahogany Ladies With Hats

This is a stamp I have struggled with using, so I decided to see what I could do with it. I used Aged Mahogany Distress Ink to stamp  my card base several times. I then stamped her again on watercolour paper with Jet Black Archival ink.

 
Now I was at my friends house and only had one chunky waterbrush with me so colouring her was fun! I also only had my ink pads with me this day so I used the stamp pad direct to my craft sheet and then spritzed with water to make my watercolour.

Her clothes, hat and lips are all aged mahogany, even the light piece in the middle. Her face is a combination of Spun Sugar and Antique Linen. Darn sorry I can't remember what colour her hair is :( I fussy cut around her (the big brush made a bit of a mess) and die cut her in plain white cs and glued them together with Multi-Medium Matte.

I used the label from the HeroArts/Sizzix Frames With Sprigs set and stamped it with aged mahogany again. I did all my cutting in my trusty Cuttlebug.  I wanted to make this say Happy Mothers Day but I only have one stamp that says that and it is far too big! So I stamped a Fiskars sentiment from the Family stamp set and embossed it with ranger clear superfine. I will use the big stamp I have from Inkadinkado in the middle instead :) I used foam tape to add both to my card base, the image tape is double the height of the one I used for the label.

Three posts in one day. That's what I get for being lazy and not posting over the last three days haha!
