Something For Teacher With Sandylion Stickers

I thought I would try for a more CAS project this week and I had the perfect stickers for the theme. The only trouble I had was finding a table svg so I found this free file here and imported it into SCAL 3. As it would have cut all those lines I made a shadow layer and cut that out instead. I used a white cs base with a very light cream matte on top of that. Anything darker made the table fade into the background. The stickers are all from Sandlylion and have foam dots behind them already to pop them off the card.You can see the shadows from them being raised off the card below.

Both the table and the blackboard background are cut from a brown batik paper that I thought would work well as wood :). I used Lifestyle Crafts nesting squares to cut the table and blackboard background. I stamped a Thank You from an Inkadinkado set with Cotton White Opaque Stazon. I added a square of cs under the batik layer of the blackboard to reinforce it so I could add some very thin foam tape underneath. The twine is from hemptique

The best bit is I have enough stickers left in this set to make a girly back to school or graduation card :) I hope you like my more simplified project this week for Eclectic Ellapu !

PS sorry I have been so absent of late! I have had a whole lot going on plus I just got alcohol markers and have been busy learning a whole new skill set. I started with promarkers and trias, then I got lucky and someone was selling an almost complete set of Ciao's on ebay that got here on Tuesday. I have been colouring up a storm! Need to make use of some of those images so I can show you!

Ecraft Angry Birds Card Using FREE Svg's

 A young relative of mine had a birthday a couple of days ago and he is really into angry birds. I searched the net and found a bunch of angry bird svg's free by The Lady Wolf. As his cake was going to be the red and yellow birds I decided I would make those two as well. I opened them in SCAL 3 and resized them all as one before cutting and pasting each different colour section into  new window. In hindsight I wish I had made them a little bigger lol. Also cutting two birds at once was fun because then I had to sort out their respective pieces lol.

Having played the game before I wanted the background to look a bit like the game as well rather than using patterned papers. So I used a free grass svg from Pigtails and Paper Trails and another free svg from Bird. I'd seriously recommend checking out what else these lovely ladies have! I just saw the grass under the clouds Bird has. I hadn't grabbed it yet :O lol. To assemble the back gound I cut a piece of blue cs to the same size as my card and taped it down. I used tape on the straight edge of he grass only so I could slide a cloud down there. I taped the clouds down and then used foam tape on the birds and banner to pop them off the card a bit :)

Doily Card With My Ecraft

Hi all Just wanted to share a card I made with my ecraft....

I found a circle doily type svg on a free blog. In SCAL 3 I took the svg and copied it and flipped it and laid it slightly over the first copy and then merged or did a union... or both? Sorry lol exhausted at the moment or I would try it again lol. Anyway by doing this I got my card base.

I cut a white circle to fit my card top and another for inside. I ran the top circle through my cuttlebug with a sizzix texturz plate. I used a lifestyle crafts die to layer the sentiment on white and then black cs. The flowers are I am Roses, I used black soot distress stain to colour them and then used home made shimmer spray to make the colour bleed down.

The butterfly is made using ten movers and shapers Tim Holtz Butterfly's and one piece of thin chip. I sprayed each of the butterfly's with shimmer spray and then adhered one to the base. The rest I ran through the cuttlebug in an embossing folder. I used a thin layer of matte accents on the body of each butterfly to glue the layers together. I added the second circle on the inside for writing on :)

Boxes Galore and Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone :) Hope you all have had or are having a wonderful day!

I have been making boxes, boxes and more boxes! All the boxes I have made come from the SVGCuts One Piece Box set. I cut all my boxes in my ecraft. I had to make a couple a smidge smaller but all good, they still cut great.

For the ones that had extra pieces I used SCAL 3 to open the box file and a new project tab to open each of the extras. I ungrouped my extras as some had 12" long boxes and regrouped them smaller and then copied them to my box tab. I then clicked ctrl A to select all pieces and grouped them together. By doing this I was then able to resize all my pieces at the same time and maintain scale. ( I didn't end up using the boxes with extras tho lol)

I made quite a few boxes 4 in the lacey pattern and then a couple of others. So here are the lacey ones. The light pink one caught on my ecraft on the way out and as I was not near by I had to do some creative fixing lol.

Mine is in shades of purple. My fave colour!

Next up are some boxes my daughter took to school, another purple one and a red one decorated with scraps of paper I had laying around.

This first one went a little awry so had to fix as best I could. I gave that one to a friend for his mum as she had given us a couple of lifts lately :)

This one was for my youngest daughters teacher last year and my current training placement teacher :)

This was for her current teacher :) As I said just decorated with some scraps I had.

This next box was made on bright green cs, anyone who knows me knows I am not a fan, it was a test cut. It didn't work 100%  needs to be shrunk a lil but with some creativity I hid the fold mark! lol My daughter saw it and decided she wanted two boxes! I used some scraps of paper I had to decorate it.

This last box is another different style. I found some lovely fairy paper in my scraps and used that to embellish the box.

All flowers are I am roses and have been coloured on the tips with distress stains and then misted with home made pearl mist. One flower on the green box has been coloured with the evergreen bough distress ink pad. The big pink flower on the last box I cannot remember what I used on it as it was a while ago. I think it is Stampin' Up ink. The stamp set is XOXOXO from The Paper Studio

12 Cards of Christmas T!m Holtz Style Card 12

So here I am at card 12. Yay I made it :) I made a huge mistake though and that makes me sad. I just didn't have the time or enough Star Dust Stickles left to fix it. Moving on lol. I used what I had again to create this card, keeping the techniques I liked and going with the flow :) Hope you like it. Wow never had so much creative focused energy in one month lol... This last card was inspired by T!m's 12t tag and as you can see mine is very very different lol.

Card 12


I started by using an old book my eldest daughter gave me to canabalise. I took one page and slathered Multi-Medium Matte all over it. I adhered it to a piece of cardstock and moved and scrunched it about as T!m did with his tissue paper. I was going to stamp some tissue paper my sister had given me but it was Missing in action from all the Christmas bruhaha lol.

I then painted book page with home made glimmer glaze. This mix is iridescent medium, glossy accents and fired brick (I have just started using Multi- Medium Gloss for this and love it!). I waited fro it to dry, which doesn't take long, then dripped more glaze over the light spots to give the splotchy effect.

I used the snowflake images found on SCAL 3 again. I cut these in several sizes with printer paper til I was happy with the size. Especially the one I was going to add a facet to.

I then used my eCraft to cut some plastic packaging (from lifestyle craft dies) into snow flakes. The packaging is a good bit thicker than acetate. I adhered the plastic to a stabiliser with removable tape so it wouldn't slide around. If you don't it slides all over and you end up with a big mess!!! I used pressure setting 7. Cuts  like a dream :)

I grabbed some different colours of alcohol inks and my pearl mixative and did a few testers on some scrap packaging from around the snow flakes. I chose to use Aqua/Pearl Mixative to colour them. I coloured and coloured with my Tim Holtz tool and my inks til I achieved a colour I liked. Some spots were too light so I went over them til I got it right!

I decided they were still too plain so I added some Star Dust Stickles to the snowflakes. I covered the two smaller ones and only did around the outside of the larger one.

I grabbed my Cotton White Stazon and some snow flake stamps. The large one is from Inkadinkado and the small from Stampin' Up. I reinked one end of my stamp pad then used the large stamp on my book page a couple of times. I then took the smaller stamp and filled in some spots.

On some scrap card I stamped my small sentiment. I made sure it was small enough to see through the facet before I stamped it. It's a fiskars stamp. I used black stazon ink.

I then went over this with my fired brick glaze, after it dried I used some glossy accents to adhere my large circle Facet down. I pressed down hard gave it a bit of a swirl then made sure it was positioned just so. I used some paper towel to wipe away the excess glossy. My only issue with this is that even though my glaze was made with glossy accents adding glossy as a glue seemed to leech colour from my glaze :(

I cut around the facet and then used more glossy to stick it to my snow flake.

I grabbed some white and blue cardstocks and palyed around with them to see what combo I liked better. My eldest daughter decided the blue was the matte and the white was the card. I used my Fired Brick Distress pad to add a teeny border around the white card. I used the pad direct to card, no tool.

I used double sided tape to adhere my book page layer to the blue cardstock. I piled everything on top to see how it looked and felt it was missing some magic. I went to clker.com to get an icicle svg and made a template out of plastic and cut it with my eCraft. I then used stickles in star dust to add icicles to my card base. This is where I made my big mistake :( Shhhh I won't tell if you won't lol. I also added a border of sorts. The template was larger than in the pic but i flipped it and cut it to do the last part.

I used foam tape on all off the snow flakes. The larger and smaller have thicker tape and the middle size flower has thinner tape on them to give dimension. I then stuck them to my card and Job done. 12 cards is finito. Cannot believe I got it done in my first year at having a go but there you have it :)

Ta Daaaaaa, All done. Happy dance :). Upload the last card to T!m's Blog and then I can put this baby to bed. Wow I am relieved it's over. For someone who has barely crafted much in the last year that was pretty full on for me. A great way to get back in the swing of things and be inspired to try out a whole heap of my new products!

12 Cards of Christmas T!m Holtz Style Card 9

So here is card 9... Almost there.. Chugga Chuggin along lol. I had to change this up a bit as I don't have these Tim things lol. I even used my seedless preserves. Yummy! Lots of eCraft cutting going on in this card :) Got to love my purpleberry! So here is T!ms tag and my inspiration...

Well I don't have the stamp Tim used or the dies so I decided that I would do a similar design to his using what I have. I think of all my cards this is the one that closest resembles his tag.

I started by using my fiskars stamp, sorry cannot remember the name at the moment lol, I stamped with Seedless Preserves from the autumn set (I had to sneak it in somewhere or my name isn't purple!!!), then covered with Ranger Superfine Embossing Powder.

Next up I grabbed my Evergreen Bough Distress Ink and my Distress Ink tool and covered the whole page. As we have already embossed the purple it acts as a resist. I then dumped more embossing powder over and heated with my heat tool. I love this technique so much I think I want to try it some more!

I then went on a mad hunt through my svg's to find one to use. I found a different lamp post to the one I used on card 7 but some of the lines were so thin they just did not cut properly. So I gave up on that idea and found a candlestick and candle instead. I love SCAL 3 for the fact I can ungroup images and hide some til I want to use them! Unfortunately I did not label svg's as I downloaded them so my free ones I have no idea where they came from :( Thanks to whoever designed the candle and candlestick svg I used. Below is the image I wanted to use :(

I opened the file in SCAL 3 and hid the base to cut the candle out of white cs, I then unhid the base and hid the candle and cut this out of black cs. I had tried a red candle but it just wasn't working.

I grabbed a recollections star and flourish stamp from the merry merry set and stamped my candle with Festive Berries. I embossed this with Ranger superfine and then glued to my base with Glossy Accents.

I grabbed a flower I had made when I was working on card 1. This Poinsettia is red and I have painted over it with Triple Thick to give it that nice shiny effect. I cut more leaves using Fundamentals 1 on my ecraft. The Poinsettia has yellow seed beeds in the middle and is made the same way as in Card 1.

With my pastel Bic Permanent markers i coloured in a piece of scrap shrinkies I cut in the shape of a flame and shrunk it with my heat tool.

I glued the flame down with glossy and the added little drops of glossy to the wreath I had leftover from cards 3 and 5. I then added red seed beads to take away the plainness.

I chose a font in SCAL3 and cut the word Christmas out of black cs. I adhered it to my card and covered in Glossy Accents. After I added the glossy I set this aside to dry in a warm spot for a while.

So once the card dried and I replaced the seed bead that had fallen off.... Card 9 was finished. As I said before this one is the closest to T!m's that I made. I really have tried to make mine somewhat different :)

12 Cards of Christmas T!m Holtz Style Card 1

Hi Everyone. I am starting a bit late and this is my first go at using T!m's 12 Tags of Christmas techniques for myself. Not the first year I have followed his blog though lol. As I was looking at the tags I was thinking what could I use them for? Scrap pages, sure, but I wanted a more immediate use for my hopefully lovely creations. So I thought why not cards. I get to make some pretty things and then gift them on to my friends and family :)

Here begins my 12 Cards of Christmas! My Muse

Card 1
The first step as always is deciding what direction to take. I started with the background and made it up as I went. I really had no idea what I was going to do. I didn't have a lot of the things used on the first tag so I started by going through my embossing folders and texture plates. I chose the Sizzix Snowflakes texture plate.

I then choose some pale blue cardstock from my DCWV White Core stack thinking I would be sanding a little later to reveal the core...

 I then used versamark dazzle straight onto the side of the texture plate I was going to be using

and ran it through my trusty bug ( I had to do this twice as the first time I forgot the versamark! lol), I added a couple of extra pieces of heavy paper to give a deeper emboss.

Then I sprinkled Hero Arts White Embossing powder over my cardstock and used a paintbrush to remove it from areas I wanted no embossing powder. I lightly ran my finger over some places in the background to remove a little bit more embossing powder.

 I heat embossed, then used Pearl-Ex Macropearl all over the cardstock and re-heated. I thought this would add a lovely sparkle effect to the white "snow". After that I very lightly ran my Tumbled Glass Distress Ink pad over the raised areas of the card and used my Ranger Distressing Tool along all its edges.
I then used Sure Cuts a Lot and some free poinsettia svg's I found online to create some flowers.

I cut the flowers and some leaves from Fundamentals 1 using my ecraft. My flowers and leaves are roughly 2" and 1.5". I used three of each size for the flowers and three 2" and two 1.5" leaves.

At this point I have to say WOOOOHOOOOO, my first proper project using my newest ecraft. And it works!!! lol... I will not tell you what number ecraft this is for me. But thank goodness I didn't give up :)

I again used Tumbled Glass Distress ink and my Ink Distressing Tool to lightly colour around the outside edges of my flowers.

I wanted a deeper cut around my petals so took a small pair of scissors and cut in between each one. I recently bought some tools off ebay that I found in the nail art section. Nail art dotting pen or marbelising tool. I got a packet of 5 for less than $2au. I used these to add lines and definition to my flowers and leaves.

I pinched each petal of my flowers and did the same for the leaves.

After defining my flowers and leaves i spritzed them with home made pearl glimmer mist. My mist consists of water, gum arabic and Pearl-Ex in Macropearl, Miccropearl and Pearl White to give them the same wintery shine as my background.

I used the Adirondack Paint Dabber in Snow Cap around the outside of my petals and leaves to give another snow like look. After the paint dried I went over the edges on both the flowers and leaves with a Zig Embossing Pen with a brush tip. I used a paintbrush to add extra Macropearl Pearl-Ex over the embossing liquid.

I used Glossy Accents to layer a small and large poinsettia together. I used more in the centre of the small flower and added some very small yellow seed beeds. I got these in a pack of 12 small different colour pots from a shop called Go-Lo in Australia.

I used the piece of cardstock I ran through the bug the first time sans versamark to stamp and emboss Merry Christmas onto, again in white. I cut around the embossed words and used my snow cap paint dabber around the edge and added even more Macropearl Pearl-Ex. What can I say, I love sparkles. I also thought it gave a lovely twinkly snow like effect :)

I worked out my placement of leves and flowers and adhered them with more glossy accents. I decided i wanted merry christmas to be raised and used foam squares to raise it off my background.

I mounted the background on another piece of the same colour DCWV cardstock using double sided tape.
I then used double sided tape to adhere it to my plain white card base :)

And there we have it. My take on Tim's first 12 Tags of Christmas Tag in card format. I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and like the card. Thanks for looking.
