Embossing Folders and Markers!

Hello crafters of the world :) lol

Today I want to share a video with you on making embossed and coloured backgrounds using markers. As I said in my last post, I don't have matching Tim Holtz stamps and folders and as they run into high numbers to buy I don't see me buying any anytime soon. I decided to try and find a way to get a similar look without owning the stamps.

I have texturz from sizzix.

Cuttlebug folders.

And finally Texture Fades.

Any embossing folder or plate that you can use in a sizzix or cuttlebug or any other machine will work for this technique as well. Darice, spellbinders etc.

The next photo shows a mix of markers I have tried. Still waiting for my distress markers. Can't wait to try them and to co-ordinate them with the distress stains!

I am still learning as i go with this. I just couldn't find any info on the web about this and thought I would share. I hope this helps some more people out!

12 Cards of Christmas T!m Holtz Style Card 3

Here I am at the third card of christmas already. Trying to play catch up now lol. This one of course is inspired by T!m's 3rd Tag of Christmas

Card 3

After the last two more complicated cards, this one is rather a lot more simple lol. As I don't have an embossing folder and matching stamp set I had to come up with a different way to get a similar look. So I grabbed my Fiskars Family stamps and Inkadinkado pigment pens in the colours Kelly Green, Red, and Cobalt Blue as well as a Marvy Wet looks embossing marker in purple.

I then coloured the different words on the stamp in roughly alternated colours using the markers. I am using a cuttlebug plate as my stamp mount as this is a very large stamp.

I chose a piece of light brown cardstock to stamp the image on and huffed and puffed on my stamp to make sure it was all still moist. I stamped my image then immediately used Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder over the top and heated. Now as you can see in the pic I didn't ink the last two lines. Big Mistake! I had to redo all over again as it wasn't big enough for my card background lol.

After I cut the stamped image to size I distress inked around the edges with my inking tool, I used Evergreen Bough First then Festive Berries.

With my Cuttlebug I used the mistletoe die from the Sizzix Sizzlits Christmas Set #6. I cut three sets in green cardstock and two more just of the berries in red. I then separated the green leaves from the berries and cut around the red berries so no little extra leaf bits were attached. I misted them all with my home made pearl mist from card one, however I forgot to dry them so they are a little splotchy. Adds Character! lol No? Snowdrops then lol.

With my ecraft and Evergreen Bough coloured paper left over from card two I cut two wreaths. I tried using the blue tool but it wasn't smooth enough so I again used the nail tools from card one to shape the wreathes. The first one I shaped from the top, the second I flipped over and shaped from the bottom. Rolling my tool over the inside leaves first then the outside ones. I flipped it over and ran a very fine ball tool over the circle. I tried to layer the two bit was not happy with the result so I just used the one I flipped over before shaping. I am sure the other will get used before the week is out! lol.

I grabbed a piece of red ribbon with white stitching from my stash and tied it in a bow. the white was a little too stark for me so i took my blending tool and Evergreen Bough and toned it down a bit.

I stuck my background to my cardstock with double sided tape, I used a little bit of Glossy Accents at four points around the wreath and stuck it to the middle of the card. I arranged three leaves and one group of berries in the top left corner of the card and another group on the bottom right and stuck them down with more glossy. I then used glossy again to stick the ribbon bow to the top of the wreath.

And there we have it. My third completed card in the 12 Cards of Christmas :) Hope you liked it.
Thanks for stopping by.
