Dried Marigold, Texture Paste and Spellbinders

Hi everybody, sorry I've been away for so long, but I've had a busy month! Been on holidays, my daughter graduated high school among other things lol. So we have a new challenge starting at Eclectic Ellapu and for the Purple team the the theme is to use Texture Paste. I was a bit challenged by this card, nothing seemed to balance out but I got there in the end.

To start this card I used a Heidi Swapp mini stencil, with Liquitex texture paste. Over this I used dried marigold distress ink. I also used distress ink around my card base. I then used my ebosser to cut Spellbinders dies, the top butterfly layer is vellum. I used more dried marigold on these as well as to stamp the Fiskars sentiment. I added some ribbon and bead string as well as bling from Kaisercraft to finish.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Stamped Die Cuts Part 2

So the other day when I was out and about I made another stamped die cut card from day 3 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 at Online Card Classes. I wanted to make a male version so I switched up the colours and the die cuts I used. I used Distress Inks in Fired Brick, Mowed Lawn, Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo. I used stamps from Fiskars and Mpress as well as dies from Lifestyle Crafts and spellbinders. I also used a mini stencil from Heidi Swapp.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 DIY Stamped Letter Embelishments.

G'day, this is my second card for day 10 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 at Online Card Classes. As I already had the red cs out I decided to go red again lol. Thank goodness for my Ebosser I can tell you, as I didn't have what was used in class to make the letters I had to do the old cut the cardstock four times trick lol. For this card I used stamps from Paper Xtra, Vermillion Archival ink, Matte Accents for all the letter gluing and Xcuts Slimline Alphabet.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Multi Coloured Embossing

Onto day five of Stretch Your Stamps 2 at Online Card Classes. For this card I used Embossing powders I got a very long time ago in tiny little vials from Spotlight. Unfortunately the red has a tendency to soak into cardstock but I don't have another red in that deep shade so I used it anyway lol. I used Spelbinder Gold Labels Four, Hemptique Black Twine, Herot Arts White Embossing Powder, Hampton Art Footlong Thank You stamps, a corner rounder and my Ebosser for die cutting.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Metallic On Black

Another technique from day 2 of Stretch Your Stamps 2 at Online Card Classes. For this technique I again used Stampin' Ups Floral Background stamp. I used Perfect Pearls in Blush, Ranger Superfine Clear Embossing Powder, Spellbinders D'lites sentiment and Xcut Bloom dies as well as my Ebosser, oh and perfect medium.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Mist Resist

This background is so sparkly! Think I got a little too happy with Mr Huey's gold mist lol. Still on day 1 of SYS2 at Online Card Classes. The background stamp is Floral Background from Stampin' Up used with Hero Arts Seafoam embossing powder. I used spellbinders dies for the die cut piece and the sentiment. I used Ranger Gold Embossing powder on the sentiment too.

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Multi Layer Emboss Resist Part 1

Hi, well I am really into Online Card Classes right now and am currently doing Stretch Your Stamps 2. This is my first card for day 1. Yeah I'm a bit slack on the  posting front but get ready for a tonne of posts! lol.

I used Hero Arts Seafoam embossing powder, Windsor & Newton Cotman watercolours, watercolour paper, the background stamp and the letters for "to you" are from Fiskars stamp sets and the die was a freebie from a magazine :) Free stuff is good!

Large Flower Background And Flutter Trees

Hiya, long time no talk . . . My cat really did it this time :( She knocked a pretty big cup full of water all over my laptop and while it still works not all the keys work properly lol. So I have to use a combination of laptop and tablet to do a post and well most days it's just too much work lol. Anyways the challenge at Eclectic Ellapu for the Purples this time is Birthdays with Butterflies. If You didn't guess I picked that one ;) Not many pics this week as that's just too much work switching constantly between pad n lappy lol.

So because I just got my Inktense pencils and some new spellbinders dies I thought I would combine the two. The dies I used are In'spire Celebration and Flutter Tree D'lites. For a full list of suplies look in the labels. The copious amounts of cutting were done in my Ebosser.

1. Cut 6 sets of trees, butterflies and sentiments from plain cs
2. Stamp background and then position tree and sentiment, die cut
3. Colour the background with a watercolour medium ( I used my new inktense set squeal), I hadnt kept my middle tree pieces but I decided the finished card needed them and went a hunting lol. Next time I will make sure to colour these at the same time too.
4. Glue the 6 trees together plus the stamped tree, glue 3 sentiments plus the stamped one together.
5. Once you have trimmed your background cut a card base to measure and then go over the edges of the base and background with white Adirondack Paint Dabber
6. Adhere background to base and then add the tree and sentiment.
7. The butterfly dies join two together at a time so what I did for these was turn my stamp stamp side up and work out roughly where I wanted the butterflies and pressed them onto the stamp then matched up the lines on the background.

The inspiration for this card came from one Jennifer McGuire posted on her blog a few months ago. She only used a sentiment but I thought this is so cool it could work with anything :)

Metallic Rub-Ons and Anna Griffins Rosa, A Match Made In Heaven!

So I have an extra post tonight :) I was inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made this week. This is the sketch. I apologise in advance for the pics. I have tried everything I can think of to take some good ones. I tried my regular camera as well as my phone too :(

I already had the piece I cut up for the panels and that was as far as I had gotten. When I saw this sketch it was an a-ha moment. It was perfect for the images I had coloured last week! Last week I tried out a technique I saw at a craft show. First I took black cardstock and the Anna Griffin Rosa Cuttlebug folder and ran them through my Ebosser. Next I took Metallic Rub-Ons by Craft-T Productions and for my first attempt I did as the guy at the show did and used finger daubers over the raised images. Whilst it looked OK I wasn't happy with just ok!
The above was done with Cameo Pink, Apple Green and Emerald. I got out the cotton tips/cotton buds/ q tips and set to work again. The advantages o this method are a much better control of the application of rub-on and much less product is used. A significant reduction, I used almost half my cameo pink on the above and hardly any Ruby Red for the one I chose for this card. I cut my Panel to 3 3/4" and then into 1 1/4" strips and then cut a plain black strip as well.
I think this is actually the best pic I have of the colouring! Next up I chose some stardream paper in as close a colour to the red flowers as I could get. I trimmed it to fit inside my square card base nicely (roughly 4 1/4 square) and also cut a strip to layer on top of my black strip.
Next I chose my sentiment from Inkadinkados Sending Wishes stamp set. I trimmed "love in bloom," it seemed appropriate, from the bottom of the wedding cake and stamped it with Distress Embossing ink and used Hampton Arts Black embossing powder from the Primary Collection. I then used double sided tape to adhere all my layers.
I can say and honestly mean it today, the photos just don't do this justice it looks so much better in real life but I did the best I could with the equipment I have . . . I love this technique, so much so I want to invest in some Inca Gold so I can shine the flowers up and see how they look :) But for the moment I will continue to play with the sets I have. I have all four sets of the Craf-T rub-ons. I did a purple panel as well, I am thinking maybe I will utilise this sketch again as they are shown off perfectly with it. Anyway enough of my waffling!

Sweet Pea Stamps Be My Valentine With More MME State Of The Heart Gatefold Card

Hi again, this is another card I made for Valentines Day. Again I coloured my image after selecting the papers I would use to make them gel together a bit better and to make life easier for myself! I started by stamping Sweet Pea Stamps Be My Valentine by Elisabeth Bell in memento black ink onto Neenah solar white cardstock. Then I selected the papers I would use from My Mind's Eye State of the Heart paper kit and colour matched as best I could.
This is definitely not a  usual colour palette for me so it was good to be outside my comfort zone. I coloured the image with a mix of Copic and Promarkers. The reds are Promarkers, browns and skin Copic. I then saw some prefolded gatefold cards I had bought and decided it would be the perfect time to try one out :)  I grabbed my first two pieces of pp and cut them the same size, then inked around the edges lightly in fired brick distress ink and around the edges of the card base with antique linen.
With the third pp I had chosen I used the largest spellbinders Heart Circles die to cut a matte for my image and inked around it with fired brick. I then used a Lifestyle Crafts Rounded Nesting Squares to cut out my image. I however decided to alter the size a bit with my paper trimmer and tidied uup the corners with a corner rounder . . .
Now is where the fun began. I decided I wanted to mount the heart circle onto some plain brown cs to break up the colour scheme a bit . . . After searching and trialling a few, I even cut quite a few different ones I hated them all. So I took some white cs and die cut it and added some antique linen around the edges. I used foam tape behind the heart circle and image layers to give dimension.
I got to this point and just thought . . . it doesn't look finished! So I had a think about what I could add to the card to finish it off and after playing about with some ideas I decided on Lifestyle Crafts It Kit Corners, the filigree heart one. All die cutting was done using my Ebosser. I swear if I didn't have a best friend already my Ebosser would become my bestie lol.
I then stamped a secret sentiment under the half of the circle that I hadn't adhered to the card using stamps by Our Craft Lounge called Love Notes with Archival Jet Black ink. Finally I stamped a sentiment from Cloud Nines Weddings stamp set.
So that's it another Valentines card posted :) I finished off a couple I had posted last year with some sentiments in the middle so I had a few to offer people. I managed to sell a couple and add some $$ to my new machine fund because my ecraft is out of warranty and doing the same thing all my others did :( cutting through everything on setting 1 like it was butter.

Kissed By an Angel with KaiserCrafts Made With Love

It's the Purple teams turn over on Eclectic Ellapu and this weeks theme is use a die cut heart. Mine ended up getting very hidden so I added some extras lol. I used a whole bunch of die companies on here . . . Hope there is no rule against mixing them up!
I started with KaiserCrafts Made With Love Collection (I snapped this up on clearance at a LSS), selecting the papers I wanted to use. I then did some colour matching with my Copics and Promarkers and stamped Connie Fongs Kissed By An Angel Sweet Pea stamp with Memento ink onto Neenah Solar White.
I then die cut the image and my first two layers using Spellbinders Ornate Artisan Tags and Accents. Now here is where I go into trouble as you will see in the pic. I hadn't actually crafted at home for a while and didn't realise my craft sheet wasn't totally clean :( As I edged my image with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink I swiped up some blue off my mat :( For the bottom layer I snipped off the long end pieces before I inked the edges as you can see in the pic. I used foam tape on under the image and double sided tape under the matting piece.
Next I die cut Lifestyle Crafts Heart Insert surrounded by a Nesting Lace Heart die from red foil cs. I saved all the little hearts for other projects as well as adding some to this one. I had to use the metal shim in my Ebosser to get this die to cut through the thick card stock. I glued the heart down with Matte Accents.
Next I used a Sizzix Sizzlit die called Ribbon Insert. My cat loves Sizzlis, if she sees one around she thinks it's fair game and claws it! Good thing they still work with claw marks in them :)Very hard paper to take a pic of! I inked the edges of this piece with Milled Lavender. I used foam tape on this layer as well.
To hide my mess I grabbed some I Am Roses flowers and coloured them with distress stains in Milled Lavender, Wild Honey, Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade and Barn door. I then spritzed them with homemade pearl mist (come on a girl's gotta have some sparkle, right?).
Next up I cut a piece of pp for the background and rounded the corners of the pp and the card base as well. I inked the edges of both with Milled Lavender and adhered the background with doublesided tape. I used matte accents to adhere my flowers and twizzles to the card as well as the cute lil hearts I saved from earlier.
Not totally sure how I feel about this one. I do know I think my colouring is coming along nicely :) Practice makes perfect right? Well till I kill it by swiping the wrong colours about the place! Flowers make everything better is becoming my motto I think . . .
Anyhow Happy Scrappin'

Sweet Peas Queen of Hearts with Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles

Queen of Hearts Taken with Phone
I saw this stamp and immediately thought of my best friend! I really wanted to colour this for her birthday card. Can you guess what her fave colour is? ;) I stamped the Queen of Hearts by Rachel Anderson with Memento Tuxedo Black. I coloured the reds with promarkers as I couldn't work out how to make a blending set with that darkness with the copics I had at the time :( I really need to learn how to use greys in my coloured images lol. I added some Atyou Spica to the lines on the bodice of the gown and necklace for some sparkle.
Spellbinder Timeless Rectangles
Next I took a sheet of K & Co paper and a piece of red cs that matched my red card base and die cut them with various size dies from Spellbinders Timeless Rectangles in my Ebosser.
Copic Colured Sentiment Background
For the sentiment layer I cut a square to fit inside my smallest die cut and then coloured it with the lightest shade of copic from my background. I then stamped my sentiment from Inkadinkado on top and added custom coloured pearls to the corners. I adhered this with foam tape behind each layer for some dimension.
Finished Card with Taken Camera
I am finding reds very hard to get a handle on. But I will persevere because don't they look stunning!Practice makes perfect hey :) Well pretty close to it at any rate ;)

Easy Acetate Card with KaiserCraft December 25th, Twig and Berries and Spellbinders

I wanted to make an acetate card and being that christmas is coming up I decided I would make a christmas card. I also wanted to make a card with die cuts, something I had not done before even though I have a few packets of them floating around. I am not very good at using them yet! lol
I started with the acetate, trimming it to card size. This is thicker than the acetate sheets you get for printing on so it can stand up in card form. I learnt that spellbinders do not like the thicker acetate so much lol. I chose some die cuts from the KaiserCraft Twig and Berry pack and a background paper from December 25th. I cut two different background papers with a spellbinders die in my ebosser.

I then cut 2 pieces of plain card stock into rectangles the same size as the die and used my corner rounder to round the edges. I used Festive Berries to stamp a sentiment. I used double side tape to tape to adhere the spellbinder pps to the front and back of the front panel and then the plain cs to the front and back of the back panel of the card.
I used foam tape to adhere the die cut pieces to the front of the card . . . It was very quick and easy to make once I stopped trying to make a pretty shaped card lol. Although I may try cutting again with the metal plate and my ebosser ;)
Its not a fancy smancy card but it was very quick and easy too make . So if you need a card in a hurry that has a lil wow factor try grabbing the acetate!

Birthday Fun with Recollections and K & Co

Hiya everyone :) This weeks theme at Eclectic Ellapu is 1st Birthday. I had coloured a bunch of little kiddy images with my Copics as practice not long after I got them, I was going to use them for a cardmaking class but they decided they just wanted to make christmas cards. So I decided to use one for this card :) I used a Lifestyle Crafts die to cut my around my image using my ebosser.
I then had fun trying to find some pp's to go with the image. It really does pay to choose papers first! lol but what can you do. My base layer is a piece I picked up cheap somewhere and it doesn't have a brand name on it. Before I adhered it to my white card base I went around the edges of the card base in Y000, the lighter colour around the lion. Then I also coloured a strip of paper with it to add across the top of the pp.
Next up I took a piece of K & Company pp from a stack I have and used a die from Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles and cut it in my ebosser. I also used the new metal plate to cut thing dies with. Worked great! I adhered this piece on and angle.
I then used Timeless Rectangles to cut a white piece of cs. I then took the same Copic and coloured the whole thing. I used Wild Honey Distress ink to stamp the sentiment.
I then used Y000 again to colour some pearls to match the rest of the card and stuck them at the four corners.
I used foam tape to raise both the image and sentiment off the card for a bit of dimension and called it done! :) lol

Creative Chemistry 102 Day 2 Part One Girly Grunge Style

I love how much we learn in Creative Chemistry! So many awesome ideas. Some of the designers really kick it up a notch too! So without further ado lets  get the first technique happening! This is my second attempt as my first didn't go so well lol. I used 3 sizes of punchinella for the spots. Crafters workshop and Prima stencils for the rest.
Mixed Media
I hunted high and low for something I needed to do this technique in the end I winged it with my ebosser! lol Again my first attempt was a major fail!
