Fiskars Asian Inspired Lantern Cards

These cards were made using the Chinese lantern from the Fiskars Asian Inspired stamp set. I stamped the lantern onto watercolour paper with Jet Black Stazon and then water coloured them with distress markers. I fussy cut around each lantern.

I then grabbed some DCWV white core cs in a nice yellow colour trimmed to card size and ran it through my bug with the Cuttlebug Lanterns embossing folder. I then used my Tim Holtz sanding block to sand the raised images and show the white core of the cs. I adhered the lanterns with foam squares and they were finished . . .

Well they should have been finished hahaha. One card I stuck the embossed base on the card upside down so I had to fix that. That's bad enough, however the next card I not only stuck the base upside down, I stuck the lanterns on the base upside down as well . . . I took my heat tool and heated everything up so the tape would release easier and fixed it all up lol . . .

Pattern Play Day 5 Paper Weaving With Crate Paper

For this card I used leftover strips from my first attempt at day one which I haven't posted yet lol. They just need sentiments. The strips are from Crate Papers Random paper pad. I used a scrap piece of cardstock to adhere my strips to as I weaved. I really liked Jennifer McGuire's Bonus day card she made by just rounding two corners of her shapes and decided I would do that on a larger scale. I followed this through with the card as well. The rounder is just one from my local Office Works store.
I kept wrecking the banners I was making for this card so in the end I totally changed what I was going to do and added buttons instead of the Enamel accents I was going to use. The buttons on the banner are tied  with pink Hemptique twine that I got in a cool multi pack of 10-12 colours. (I learnt I need to keep them in a zip lock back to keep them clean! They were getting filthy rolling around in the craft box I take to a friends lol).
I also added a little heart button in the corner. Wish I had had the twine brain wave before I glued it down lol. Anyways woohoo I did all 5 days of Pattern Play. I still have the other attempt at day one to blog about too :)

Pattern Play Day Four With Candy Lane

As I have done one of the techniques before not so long ago (Willow Holding Baby) I decided I needed to choose a different technique for todays card. I haven't decided yet! Ugh so I am about to go for a little flip through my pp's. So I found some in my 6" pad from Kaisercrafts Candy Lane collection. I also found a 12" piece in my Antique Rose stack. Not sure if I am going to use that yet . . .
First I have trimmed down my stripey piece and am going to choose some stickles to decorate it. If anyone wants measurements they can ask in comments :)After some deliberation with miss 8 who decided she wanted to help we have chosen Eucalyptus Stickles to add some pizazz to our pp.
Next I chose a pink tone on tone spotted scrap piece from the same stack as an accent. I used my Martha Stewart Pop-Up Butterflies border punch along one edge and then trimmed it down so I just had a little edge to add adhesive to. I have kept the little butterflies that fell out just in case I want to use them.
Next I used a piece of green spotty paper and stamped it with Picked Raspberry Distress ink and added a piece of scrap cs to the back. I stamped the sentiment from TPC Studio with my stamp press. I then traced over dreams with an Emboss pen and embossed with Ranger Clear embossing powder. I added some of the itty butterflies I kept earlier. I am going to add some Glossy accents to those butterflies too when I find it lol. Will add another pic when I do.
This card drove me nuts, I kept losing everything. What didn't roll off my work surface was blown away by the fan because it;s very hot her right now lol.

Pattern Play Day Three Using Antique Rose Papers

For day three of Pattern Play I decided to try out Kristina Werners tips. I chose a paper from the KaiserCraft Antique Rose collection and cut it into 2cm strips. I used an off cut from another card with some washi tape to make a straight edge to help me layout and adhere my strips of paper.
Next I grabbed a Cuttlebug Cut and Emboss folder. I am not sure what it's called sorry :( but it makes some lovely labels. I grabbed a subtle pp from the antique rose pad to make my label. I tried using distress stain to highlight the raised edges but that didn't work very well. Later I used some snow cap paint dabber mixed with a little water on the raised edges. The sentiment is from Inkadinkados Chelsea Sentiments.
Next I decide it looked a little plain so I cut a butterfly from the same pp as the background with Tim Holtz's movers and shapers from Sizzix. I chose a piece that was mostly blue so I could bring that colour in a bit more instead of it just being a little bit on the edge. I added some orange bling to the centre with Matte Accents as my Multi-Medium Matte ran away lol. I felt it could do with that little bit extra . . .

I used a small strip of  foam tape to raise the butterfly off the label a little bit. I was very overwhelmed with how bold and bright this paper is, but I have to say I think I like how this card turned out :)

Pattern Play Day Two Using Prima And Porta Crafts

Day two of pattern play and chose to emulate Jennifer Rzasa today. I borrowed a friends stamp set because it had some lovely big giant flowers in it. You are supposed to stamp one of each of the designs but they don't actually line up so instead I stamped four of the second largest flower on Prima Inamorato pp from the Cavalier Collection.
I then fussy cut the four layers to make my dimensional rose. The stamp set is from Porta Crafts 3D collection. I guess it's just called rose or something as it doesn't have a name on the packet . . .
Next I decided I wanted to use the leaf stamp to fussy cut some leaves. I used more Prima paper, this time I used Rue 88 Cafe Diamant and then fussy cut them. I used Jet Black Archival for the flower and leaves.
I layered the rose using foam tape between each layer as well as underneath. The leaves are double sided taped down. The sentiment is stamped with Deep Purple Archival.
I couldn't help it. I am back in the bling thing lol. I used it once and now it's probably going to be on everything! Everything is better with bling!

KaiserCraft Lullaby Baby Card

I made this card using the sketch at Freshly made again and combined it with the challenge at Eclectic Ellapu. This one was quick and easy as most of the work was done by the Kaisercraft Lullaby paper pad itself :) Here is the sketch . . .
I chose two papers from thee stack and a co-ordinating scallop die cut from the back of the pad. I also chose a  scalloped saying. I mounted the circle on a Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Circle Doily with foam tape. I also used foam tape between the doily die and the pp.
The Baby Boy stamp is from the KaiserCraft Lullaby stamp set. I stamped it with Archival ink in French Ultramarine and then quickly covered with ranger superfine embossing powder and embossed it.
I added a strip of white cs between the scallop and pp and then decided the whole thing looked to plain and added some bling with Matte Multi-Medium. Some were sticky backed but they just would not stay put lol. I really like this sketch! It makes making a card a breeze!

Clementine Pattern Play Day 1

Well I guess everyone knows by now how much I like to combine my challenges. This card rolls a few into one and includes the Pattern Play class I am doing at Online Card Classes. I started with this sketch from Freshly Made . . .
I started by picking my papers, I did this with two thoughts in mind, two green challenges, a monochromatic challenge and a friendship card all rolled into one. Anyway the papers I chose are from the Cosmo Cricket Clementine stack.

I then used the Tim Holtz Butterflies On The Edge die on the pp with the leaf shapes. Then I trimmed it down to fit across the top of the card and taped it to the back of the darker green on green circle pp. I then used a strip of white cs as a colour break.
Next I cut the lightest paper with another movers and shapers die, I used the larger of the two tickets. I stamped inside the ticket with Mowed Lawn Distress ink with a Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz sentiment with my new fiskars stamp press. Not sure what set as I grabbed a bunch of random stamps to craft at a friends lol. To make the words stand out a little more I embossed them with Ranger Superfine clear embossing powder.
I then grabbed a Hero Arts stamp that to stamp on the darker green pp. I used Pine Needles distress ink and embossed with the superfine again. I then taped the butterfly/darker paper onto my white card base. To add the ticket I used foam tape foe some dimension.
I thought it looked a little plain. So I decided to bling it up with some bling from the bottom of the stamp set. Everything is better with a lil bling!
If I was remaking this card I might have tried swapping the lighter herringbone  pp with the darker green circles. But at least I followed the rules for choosing paper :)

Sister Act Design Team Call

This is my entry to for the Sister Act Dt. There is still a day left to enter! It's hard to choose 3 cards to use for my entry lol. Eenie Meenie Minie Moe!

So First up a card using Gelatos and Faber-Castell markrs. The original post can be seen here. I absolutely adore this Midnight Fairytale stamp set :) This card also uses patterned paper, a doily, a label and hand coloured (not handmade lol) flowers with a lil distressing with distress inks.

I am having so much trouble picking cards lol. I think next up I will show a stamped card with no colouring. Original post here. I used the Technologic stamp set to decorate all the elements of this card for a cohesive look.

Last but not least... hmmm lol Blossom Berry. You can see the original post here. Again she is done with gelatos and faber castells with some gelato papers. That seems funny to me as I do work with a lot of mediums lol, like the distress range and water colour pencils etc, but there you go I picked two gelato ones . . .

I like to try new techniques and mediums whenever I can. My newest medium is Gloss Gel, but I can't wait to get my hot lil hands on the distress paints. I love making cards. I just need to find homes for some of them lol. Here is the link to Sister Act. Check it out :) So hard to pick just 3 cards.
Thanks for stopping bye!

Whimsy Blossom Berry Sitting Pretty With Gelatos

Another sketch challenge, this time at Simon Says Stamp, they also have a chic to be shabby challenge as well so I decided to try and combine the two as well as add a little spring for all those spring challenges about at the moment.
I started by stamping the Elisabeth Bell Whimsy stamp Blossom Berry Sitting Pretty with black Archival ink on watercolour paper and using a Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Square die to cut around her. Looks like a rectangle in this pic but its not lol.
To colour her I used both Pitt Artist Markers (my big brush are packed away atm) and gelatos, sometimes mixed together. I was surprised by how well they mixed together to make new watercolours!I scribbled down some colour then either spritzed with water or used a waterbrush to add the water to mix my colours depending on how light I wanted them to be. Be light with the metallics, a little goes a very long way!
I mixed some on my mat some on an acrylic block, depending on how much space I had on the block at the time. I will post a list of the colours I used and what for at the end. Those with a number after them are markers, those without, gelatos. I added some gold highlights to some strands of her hair. The only way I could get them to photograph was to do a super close up :)
The crochet flowers are repurposed off an old bag that was made entirely from these flowers. They were cream though, so I took the Metallic Melon and scribbled down a fair bit on my craft mat and spritzed several times with water. I spritzed my flowers and then painted and dabbed on the colour with a paint brush.
I chose three papers from the KaiserCraft Pink Gelato 6.5" stack, 2 of which I cut with the same die I cut my image out with. The other piece I cut with a larger die to fit my pre-made card base from twiddlybitz. I used watered down Metallic Melon around the edges of the last two pieces.
I then used my scissors to distress all the edges on each piece of paper as well as my image as my edge distresser is MIA . . . After I stuck the large piece to the card base I worked out where I wanted the other two positioned and used a black pitt pen to put a teeny dot just under one corner of each piece so I could lign them back up. I used double foam tape on my image to allow enough height for the lace which I glued down with Matte Multi-Medium.

KaiserCraft Technologic in Black and White

Well todays card came about because of a sketch and a couple of other challenges. The sketch is from 613 Avenue Create. I changed the oval to label as I didn't have an oval to fit my robot. I have been itching to use this set ad thought this would be the perfect op. this is the sketch . . .
Today I started from the top and worked my way down. First up I chose a piece of Core'donations from Tim Holtz, black with the kraft core and used my one of my Lifestyle Crafts Labels dies, the inner die, to cut it in my cuttlebug.
I used the spellbinders tan mat as well to add some extra definition to the edges for the nest step. I used the Tim Holtz sanding block to sand off a fair bit of the black. Especially around those edge bits.
I grabbed the brushed pewter Distress Stain and covered the entire piece (don't worry if you do this and can't see through it lol), I spritzed with water and blotted with paper towel and kept repeating til I removed most of the stain and left a soft shimmer once dried. Next I use weathered wood stain over the entire piece, depends on how much colour is wanted whether spritzing before drying is needed. I chose to spritz and lift a little colour with the paper towel.
I stamped my image next, but before I did I made sure I had the stamp mounted and everything positioned where I needed it because I needed to work fast. I re-inked my Stazon Metallic Silver ink pad and inked up my robot from the KaiserCraft Technologic stamp set and stamped him on my label. This is actually take two as the first attempt I didn't shake my re-inker enough first lol.
Next I decided to carry on with a bit more silver. I grabbed some silver shimmer paper and set to making the banner portion of the sketch. I used a sentiment from Inkadinkados Chelsea Sentiments. I wanted the sentiment on two lines so I snipped it in half before stamping with Archival Jet Black. The cogs and heartbeat are from the technologic set. I also decided at this point the card would be black and I would add a silver mat between my card base and my patterned paper that I hadn't chosen yet lol.
So I went searching through a bunch of stacks to find the perfect pp. At the very back of the Black and White Timeless KaiserCraft stack I found something I thought would work, it reminds me of a maths book lol. It was a very plain piece so I decided to add some stamping. I really wanted to use the barcode in the Technologic set so I stamped that first and then created a border around the rest of the piece with the two cogs in the set. The barcode says "Boys will be boys" at the bottom.

At the last minute I decided to mount the silver banner on some black cs to give it a bit more definition and then added it to the card with tape. The robot is mounted with foam tape for some dimension. I noticed after I took this pic that the end of the banner was sticking up, so I popped some tape under to get it to stay down lol.
This I think is one of the first black and white cards I have made that doesn't feature flowers :) Hope you like my Robot Card!
