Special 200th Blog Post Mini Easel Card With Drawer Featuring Candy Lane

So for my 200th blog post I thought I would have a break from SYS2 and post my Daughters 11th birthday card. As you can see it has a bit of a twist. It's an Easel box card so that you can put whatever you want in the little drawer that comes out. Here is a link to the youtube vid I watched to show me how to do this. I used two colours however because that's what miss 11 wanted lol.
I used KaiserCrafts Candly Lane 6" paper pad for this card 'cause if you can't tell . . . my daughters favourite colour is hot pink lol. I also used dies from Spellbinders and Lifestyle crafts as well as archival ink for the sentiment and prima flowers nd some resin floers from Ebay.
For the foam insode I just used some that came in something new once upon time. I have a box full of this stuff just for that purpose. She also got a ring and bracelet in this so I cut slots using my Tim Holtz Scissors and my Prima Knife.

Creative Chemistry 102 Not So Industrial + Tarnished Silver

The title says it all... It's a bit girly to be industrial maybe? lol. Love the tarnished silver technique! If you love all things distress you really need to try the Creative Chemistry Courses! Awesome!
Industrial + Tarnished Silver
I originally left the tag and flowers off but it wasn't girly enough haha! But it looks much better with the extra touches!

A little Sketchy With Cosmo Cricket

I started with this image that I stamped in Archival and coloured with a mix of Inktense and Staedler watercolour pencils. I then chose three patterned papers from the Crate Papers Clementine stack to follow this sketch with. I bought this stack to challenge myself to use papers I wouldn't normally.
For the background layer I chose chevrons, my strip is stripes and instead of a wavy border I chose a piece of paper from the stack that had skinny border like images on it and cut out the one with the flowers and adhered it to the stripy paper. I added a teeny dot of red Liquid Pearls to the middle of each of those flowers.
Next I chose a red and a green Prima flower and glued them together and onto the card. I added  some perfect pearls to the middle of them too. Then I had a teeny accident and had to add the green flower which made the card unbalanced so I added the red one as well and added liquid pearls to the middle of these too lol. I hand cut the banner and used my Martha Stewart score board to score where wanted the folds to be. I used a triple layer of foam tape in the middle to pop it off the card. The sentiment is from Mpress stamped with Vermillion archival.

Boxes Galore and Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone :) Hope you all have had or are having a wonderful day!

I have been making boxes, boxes and more boxes! All the boxes I have made come from the SVGCuts One Piece Box set. I cut all my boxes in my ecraft. I had to make a couple a smidge smaller but all good, they still cut great.

For the ones that had extra pieces I used SCAL 3 to open the box file and a new project tab to open each of the extras. I ungrouped my extras as some had 12" long boxes and regrouped them smaller and then copied them to my box tab. I then clicked ctrl A to select all pieces and grouped them together. By doing this I was then able to resize all my pieces at the same time and maintain scale. ( I didn't end up using the boxes with extras tho lol)

I made quite a few boxes 4 in the lacey pattern and then a couple of others. So here are the lacey ones. The light pink one caught on my ecraft on the way out and as I was not near by I had to do some creative fixing lol.

My oldest daughters box in shades of blue/greens.

My youngests. Her flowers are different colours as she picked what she wanted :)

Mine is in shades of purple. My fave colour!

Next up are some boxes my daughter took to school, another purple one and a red one decorated with scraps of paper I had laying around.

This first one went a little awry so had to fix as best I could. I gave that one to a friend for his mum as she had given us a couple of lifts lately :)

This one was for my youngest daughters teacher last year and my current training placement teacher :)

This was for her current teacher :) As I said just decorated with some scraps I had.

This next box was made on bright green cs, anyone who knows me knows I am not a fan, it was a test cut. It didn't work 100%  needs to be shrunk a lil but with some creativity I hid the fold mark! lol My daughter saw it and decided she wanted two boxes! I used some scraps of paper I had to decorate it.

This last box is another different style. I found some lovely fairy paper in my scraps and used that to embellish the box.

All flowers are I am roses and have been coloured on the tips with distress stains and then misted with home made pearl mist. One flower on the green box has been coloured with the evergreen bough distress ink pad. The big pink flower on the last box I cannot remember what I used on it as it was a while ago. I think it is Stampin' Up ink. The stamp set is XOXOXO from The Paper Studio

Hope you like my personalised valentine boxes! For the most part they a colour specific to each person and filled with goodies! :)

Soooo Excited. I am a Prima Winner!!!!

Well Hi there everyone :)

Today I am about ready to bounce of the walls.

I am a WINNER!!!!
on Prima's  blog! I won the most gorgeous prize!
Thank goodness my sister tagged me on facebook so I knew to go look :) Thank you very much!

Wanna see what I won? Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal.....

Anyone who knows me, knows I love Prima and have a box full of the older got flowers and a couple of other collections :) I have just started making some bead sprays with them :) I am working on ways to add the flat flowers into sprays so I will be hopefully I will be doing a video tutorial soon :) I have two ways so far lol.

I am also waiting on some coloured wire I got for a brilliant price on ebay :) 10 different colours to play with :)
I am not really one for adding florist tape to my sprays as I am a smidge ocd and would want it on every section so it all looked the same. So coloured wire sounded like a good option!

Back to my prize. How lovely is the stamp set? The flowers and bling as well of course. But if you know me, you know I love flowers and butterflys! So these stamps are just so me :)

Anyways I just had to share my excitement! Now I best get to cleaning! ugh rofl...

Pretty Prima Like Flowers

I used some Puffy White Flowers and different colouring techniques and decorations to make some Prima Like Flowers of Spain Madeiros flowers. For the centres I used different I am roses roses. To colour my petals I used Distress Stains and Distress Inks. Any dye ink pads can be used to get the same effect or even re-inkers mixed with a little water.

The first method I used was to make sure the top of my Distress Stain was good and juicy and then touch the top of each petal to the top of the Distress Stain and let it soak up the colour to where I was happy with how much it had on the tip. I liked the idea of a bit more colour on the ends so let it soak up a bit.

The second method can be used with Distress Stains, Distress Ink Pads, Re-inkers, Watercolours, Pearls/Pearlex mixed into a paint even paint I would imagine. Add medium of choice to your craft mat and mix with water. Using a paintbrush or aqua brush I brushed the tips of my flowers with my colour choice.
The picture above shows the first flower made by distress stain alone, the next is distress stain, water and aqua brush the third is distress pad, water and aqua brush. The colour used is Dusty Concord.

The third method is as above but instead of using a brush, make sure you have a good amount of pooled colour and water on your craft mat or even in a dish. Dip the tips of the flower one at a time in the colour. be aware however that you need to remove the flower petal well before it gets to where you want the colour to stop as it will continue to travel down the petals some way. (I got caught out by this lol)

To colour my centre roses I used the same methods as above, using the Distress Stain or aqua brush.

Some I then misted with home made pearl mister. Make sure the flowers are dry first and that you only lightly mist as the colour will run if you spray too much. Others I used Glitter on and one has both glitter on the centre rose and Diamond Dust on the outer petals.

Not much effort to get a really lovely flower. Another think you can do when using the aqua brush if you only want shimmer on the coloured bits of your flower is to add pearl shimmer spray to your ink rather than plain water. I did this with some of my flowers as well. Hope you like my flowers. If anyone wants a youtube vid let me know in comments. if I get enough will do a tut and post a link.
The colours used here in clockwise order are Spun sugar(behind the red), Barn Door, Tumbled Glass, Aged Mahohany, Milled Lavender and Wild Honey

The First One

So here I am doing my first proper blog... I tried this once before a long time ago. I think I posted twice and forgot about it lol... It was an msn in general type of blog from memory. It was years ago, never really gotten into it.
I have a facebook but not a twitter or myspace or anything else..
I follow a couple of other blogs and now that I have my own blog I will probably end up checking out more.
I am unsure how any of it works, so it will be a learning curve.
I did manage to upload a crafty display pic of an altered notebook that I made I will see if i can add another here :) Only one way to learn right?

The above image is of flowers I made using the flower shape at the top of the photo. The flower comes from the Ecrafts fundamental 1 cartridge.
This is another altered journal I made. The heart opens up to reveal the persons name this was made for. It uses pearlex, patterned paper, Prima notary stamp and prima flowers, acetate, grungeboard, gold crackle paint, the heart locket and key is a sizzix die, stickles, ink (mostly cranberry adirondack), Mindscape stamps for the clear embossed bacground, various ribbons, charms, brads and bling.

I am a slow scrapper. Seems to take me ages to get anything significant done. I am a messy scrapper. I always have a big pile of mess around me... Seems if I put someting I was using away I want it five minutes later lol. As I scrap In the kitchen and my paper/cardstock storage system in in the kitchen and my craft cupboard is in the loungeroom it can be annoying to keep getting up to get what I need. Although I could be much better organised. I am trying to learn techniques to be faster (any hints welcome).

I have been watching drew from youtube and ustream. he is amazing and extremely fast (cardofmyeye on youtube and ustream). Creating whole mini albums in a couple of hours. I wish! lol. But one thing I have noticed that might make it a little easier is that he tends to use either a paper stack or papers from the same range. I am going to try this and see if I can do something similar to create a mini.

Youtube is my best friend. The amount of video tutorials I have watched and the techniques I have learnt are unbelievable. If I post a technique that I learnt from a youtube video I will say. I am unsure if I can post links to other peoples things as of yet so need to learn how it all works. But I will tell you who and what where I can.

Anyways this post is getting long and rambly so I shall sign off and try to start crafting enough to post on here what I am working on regularly. Thats my aim anyway :)
