A day with no direction....

I go to my friends house on a tuesday to do some creating, this week I was hoping my simon order would be here so I could take my new stash to play with... Alas it didn't arrive in time, so I chucked a bunch of random stuff in my trolley and off I went.

The random stuff included Distress Stains, Faber Castell Big Brush and Artist Markers, Distress Ink Pads, a bunch of stamps, whhite cardstock and a few things I wanted to use to make cards with.

My list of products I wanted to use were

1. Backgrounds made during Creative Chemistry 101 (I have a container full)
2. Washi or Tissue Tape
3. Stickers I bought from Lincraft in Sydney
4. A flower I made using the bleeding technique
5. My new Cuttlebug Cut and Emboss Folder
6. White Embossing Powder

I managed to use 5/6 in the time I had :) So considering I hadn't created much lately I was pretty happy with that. I made three cards, none of which have their sentiments yet as I haven't decided what to use lol...

Card one is made using a background from Creative Chem, a rocket ship from the Hot Rockets stampendous stamp set, pit artist pens, stazon, distress stains and the cut and emboss labels folder from cuttlebug.

I used a background from class and ran it through my bug with the ornamental Tim Holtz die and mounted it on a white card base. I ran some more white cs through the cuttlebug inside the labels die. While the cs was still in the die I flipped it over and inked the embossed areas with a makeup sponge to get the nice intense colours. The rocket is stamped with black stazon and coloured with pitt artist markers and bb markers and then fussy cut. Both the rocket and the label are adhered with foam tape to add dimension.

I am thinking a Ribbon banner or two to add the sentiments and finish off my card :)

Card two uses another background from Creative Chem, symphony tissue tape, distress inks and a mini movers and shapers label die.

I coloured the symphony tissue tape with seedless preserves and then adhered it to the edges of my background. I took a flower I had coloured with seedless preserves and stuck it down with glossy accents. I am debating adding some brown leaves to the flower... I cut a label with the mini movers and shapers and inked the edges with my distress tool and more seedless.

The last one is my favourite of the three I think and uses another creative Chem background, yay 3 for 3... lol. I used Vellum, a sticker, I am Roses, and pitt artist pens.

I cut a plain piece of vellum with the ornamental die and adhered my outline sticker to the middle. I used my artist markers to colour the image in and a tissue to remove the ink from the sticker. I then stamped flourishes around the edges with the same blue marker I used in the image. I coloured some roses with the same two colours I used in the flower images and sprayed them with shimmer spray to add some sparkle. I glued the flowers down with glossy and added some twizzles.

There is a smidge of tape showing in the top left corner but thats where I will adhere my sentiment to hide it...

So while I didn't power create I did manage to make three nice cards :) and guess what!!!! My order came on Wednesday. I got a lil of this and a lil of that to add to my collection, a few stickles, a couple of distress pads I didn't have and some paints etc. But the thing I was most excited about was my Valentines day present!!! Finally I have the complete set of Gelatos in my hot little hand... Guess you know what my next blog post will be about!

Creative Chemistry 101 Day Two Finished Projects

Hiya everyone, time to start posting my finished projects so I can link them to the gallery. So in quick succession there will be 10 blog posts lol. Here goes  . . .

Doily Card With My Ecraft

Hi all Just wanted to share a card I made with my ecraft....

I found a circle doily type svg on a free blog. In SCAL 3 I took the svg and copied it and flipped it and laid it slightly over the first copy and then merged or did a union... or both? Sorry lol exhausted at the moment or I would try it again lol. Anyway by doing this I got my card base.

I cut a white circle to fit my card top and another for inside. I ran the top circle through my cuttlebug with a sizzix texturz plate. I used a lifestyle crafts die to layer the sentiment on white and then black cs. The flowers are I am Roses, I used black soot distress stain to colour them and then used home made shimmer spray to make the colour bleed down.

The butterfly is made using ten movers and shapers Tim Holtz Butterfly's and one piece of thin chip. I sprayed each of the butterfly's with shimmer spray and then adhered one to the base. The rest I ran through the cuttlebug in an embossing folder. I used a thin layer of matte accents on the body of each butterfly to glue the layers together. I added the second circle on the inside for writing on :)

Boxes Galore and Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone :) Hope you all have had or are having a wonderful day!

I have been making boxes, boxes and more boxes! All the boxes I have made come from the SVGCuts One Piece Box set. I cut all my boxes in my ecraft. I had to make a couple a smidge smaller but all good, they still cut great.

For the ones that had extra pieces I used SCAL 3 to open the box file and a new project tab to open each of the extras. I ungrouped my extras as some had 12" long boxes and regrouped them smaller and then copied them to my box tab. I then clicked ctrl A to select all pieces and grouped them together. By doing this I was then able to resize all my pieces at the same time and maintain scale. ( I didn't end up using the boxes with extras tho lol)

I made quite a few boxes 4 in the lacey pattern and then a couple of others. So here are the lacey ones. The light pink one caught on my ecraft on the way out and as I was not near by I had to do some creative fixing lol.

Next up are some boxes my daughter took to school, another purple one and a red one decorated with scraps of paper I had laying around.

This first one went a little awry so had to fix as best I could. I gave that one to a friend for his mum as she had given us a couple of lifts lately :)

This one was for my youngest daughters teacher last year and my current training placement teacher :)

This was for her current teacher :) As I said just decorated with some scraps I had.

This next box was made on bright green cs, anyone who knows me knows I am not a fan, it was a test cut. It didn't work 100%  needs to be shrunk a lil but with some creativity I hid the fold mark! lol My daughter saw it and decided she wanted two boxes! I used some scraps of paper I had to decorate it.

This last box is another different style. I found some lovely fairy paper in my scraps and used that to embellish the box.

All flowers are I am roses and have been coloured on the tips with distress stains and then misted with home made pearl mist. One flower on the green box has been coloured with the evergreen bough distress ink pad. The big pink flower on the last box I cannot remember what I used on it as it was a while ago. I think it is Stampin' Up ink. The stamp set is XOXOXO from The Paper Studio

Papermania Midnight Fairytale Card

I recently saw these fairy stamps and fell in instant love with them! They are so pretty and great for colouring in with my Faber Castell Markers. they are Papermania Midnight Fairytale clear acrylic stamps.

I first stamped my image with Timber Brown Stazon. I chose brown as it softens into the image more, it's a  less harsh look in my opinion.

I then coloured the image with both Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens and Big Brush Markers. I used a couple of techniques. First I straight coloured my image. For some reason I always start with the skin. I used the artist pen for this. I found that if I did a small section then pulled/blended the colour down I ended up with less streaks.

Once I coloured all the skin and it was dry I then went back with the same colour and added shadows with the same marker.i used my finger to again pull the colour and blend it in. I worked in very small sections so the colour was still very wet when I blended. Her face is a little dark because I went over it two times. But it was late and this was my umpteenth go at colouring her in.

Because the dress is a large area I used a big brush marker for this section to minimise streaking, again blending as I went. I added shadows and the flower details with the same maker.

The rest is done with the pitt artist pens as most is fine detail work and my hands are just not steady enough to
colour these with the big brush markers.

The technique I used on her wings was to go over the stamped lines with my chosen colour one line at a time, then pull the colour down into the wings. This gives a nice translucent effect. After I fussy cut my fairy out I used home made glimmer glaze over the wings ( Reeves Iridescent medium, spritz of water, multi-medium gloss, spun sugar reinker).

On a white cs base I added polka dot paper from the KaiserCarft 6" Candly Lane stack. I then used a lovely floral stripe paper from the Authentique uncommon 6" stack that I had cut with my Lifestyle Crafts largest nesting frames die. I used foam tape to add my fairy onto this.

I then grabbed some I Am Roses flowers and coloured them with the two main shades of Faber castell markers I had used. I worked quickly, one flower at a time, to colour the edges and then mist with home made pearl mist (pearl ex on macro pearl, micro pearl and pearl white, water and a few drops of glossy accents).

I added my flowers to the card with glossy accents. I used the stems from some of the flowers to make twizzles to finish off the card.

Beaded Flower Spray

Ok so as you can see I have been having fun with lately! I was following links and came across one from Wild Orchid Crafts for Floral Bead Sprays. So I decided to give it  a go :) With my own flavour  added of course lol.

I gathered some beads, iamroses flowers in various sizes (all white) and beading wire and set  off on an adventure lol. I, loving butterfly's, had decided this time I must have a butterfly. I resisted the urge on my previous bead sprays so now was the time! I also decided my favourite colour, purple, would be my colour of choice.

Supplies in hand and working on my twist, the first things I grabbed were the butterfly and a rose bud. I wanted my rose bud to be the top of my spray so had to work out how to incorporate the butterfly and rose in reverse order to the video instructions.

I started with my butterfly bead as per the video instructions for beads but only gave a little twist to the wires underneath. I then stuck the long stem from my rosebud through the butterfly and incorporated it into the twisting wires.

I then made  four more bead/flower  combos one bead and flower on each. However after  I twisted  it all together it looked wrong to me lol.  I grabbed two more  itty roses and twisted them onto the two stems that felt too long and bare lol...

I coloured my flowers using dusty concord distress stain on the tips and then spraying with home made pearl mist.

My 8 yr old daughter took some pics for me :) I will add  one that  shows the whole thing when my camera batteries charge :)

Purples Flirty Flowers

So as I was making the previous flowers I discovered by accident that you could get a lovely effect by letting water run up the flowers.

First step is to select the flowers you are going to use. Then colour the edges of the petals with distress stain or distress reinker. You cannot use a watered down version of the colours as this method will not work.

If you are using the stamp pad method you don't need to be precise, also don't add too much colour, especially if you are using a dark colour as this method will not be as effective.

Spritz your craft mat or a non porous surface with water, then place one petal of your flower at a time in the pool of water, holding the petal straight down so it's not laying in the water.

Another thing I learnt while I was doing this is that if you dry the back first the lighter colours will be on top, if you dry the top first it will be darker.

I think any dye ink will work for this method. Will have to give it a try in the next few days lol.

Joy Fold Card

I went with the joy fold card and after a few problems it's finally finished :). The first pic shows the inside of the card ready to be stamped with a sentiment. The top paper is from the Prima Romatique 6" pad and has been inked with Aged Mahogany and Bundled Sage.  

The background paper is only distressed with the Aged Mahogany distress ink and is from Kaisercraft 6" English Rose collection. I had to pull the top layer off twice to fix mistakes. I used the old heat the tape up trick to peel it off. First time I positioned the top layer too low. The second time i realised I had left the the paper layer off. OOPS!

The next picture shows the bottom of the front. This section will anchor the uppermost section down. I have again distressed the pp with bundled sage. The paper is again from the Prima Romantique collection.

The edge has been punched with a Fiskars edger punch. The bottom circle is edged wiith Bundled Sage and The top circle with Aged Mahogany. The flower is another iamroses rose coloured with homemade gimmer mist. The circle is attached with foam tape in the bottom corner to elevate it and make it easier to anchor the top section.

I decided it still looked a little too plain, so I added a sentiment that says May your day be bright as a flower. The one on the inside says Live well, Laugh Often, Love Much. The stamps are Boho Blooms from TPC Studio.

I had a little foible with the circle when I tried to reposition it so I added more flowers to cover a lil tear in the bottom corner and more flowers just because. They are all from I am roses.

The next pic shows the top layer of the card. I used another TPC Studio stampset, Secret Garden Collage, for the front. I used Aged  Mahogany, Tumbled Glass, Worn Lipstick, Bundled Sage and Pine Needles Distress Stains to colour the image after clear embossing it. All the dimensions for this card are based on this  stamp so i didn't follow set measurements.

Phew finally done :). Just hope the person likes it and we are all good. I mounted the dragonfly with foam tape to make it easier to get off  if the person would like to reuse it on a page or somewhere else. I also shortened the dangles after I took this picture so they would sit better.
